Protein Purification
PhyNexus’ proprietary PhyTip column technology consists of a media bed at the pipette tip contained by either one or two very thin frits – depending on the application – securing the media bed in place. The proprietary frit(s) containing the media are very thin and typically having a thickness of 60 microns. The frits are hydrophilic which results in an effective aqueous “skin” (a function of water tension) when the frit touches the mobile phase. This allows the mobile phase to pass through the barrier but keeps out air – up to 1 to 2 psi (the “frit-air barrier”). The effect of the frit-air barrier is tremendous control over fluid flow into and out of the column across the media bed, even at very small volumes. All sample and mobile phase enter and exit at the column tip in a bi-directional manner using DFC – including sample loading, elution of contaminants, and elution of proteins or DNA.
Protein Applications PhyTip Column and Bed Sizes
PhyNexus offers PhyTip Columns in a myriad of column and resin bed sizes to accommodate almost all major instrument systems. Standard PhyTip Column sizes are 200 μL, 300 μL, 500 μL and 1000 μL. Standard resin bed sizes are 5 μL, 10 μL, 20 μL, 40 μL, 80 μL, 160 μL and 320 μL (for our MEA 2 and AutoPlasmid MEA instrument only).
COLUMN SIZE | BED SIZE |
---|---|
200 μL | 5 or 20 μL |
300 μL | 5 or 20 μL |
500 μL | 20, 40, 80 or 160 μL |
1000 μL | 20, 40, 80 or 160 μL 320 μL (MEA only) |
